Moon: a free lace knitting stitch pattern

Each month my Patreon supporters suggest words for me to encode as knitting stitches, and each month a random number generator chooses a word from that collection. Rebecca’s word moon is the word for this month, and here we are. In truth, only the first eight rows are necessary – the second eight are the same stitch pattern offset horizontally.

Moon: a free lace knitting stitch pattern.

Pattern repeats over 12 stitches and 16 rows.

Abbreviations:

  • k: knit.
  • k2tog: knit 2 stitches together as if they were 1. (Right-leaning decrease)
  • p: purl.
  • sl2, k1, p2sso: slip the next 2 stitches as if to knit 2 together, knit the next stitch, then pass the 2 slipped stitches over the third.
  • ssk: slip each of the next 2 stitches as if to knit, then knit them together through the back loop. (Left-leaning decrease)
  • yo: yarn over.

Here is the stitch map for this pattern, and a printable PDF will be available shortly.
